I couldn’t believe it when the doctor told me I had osteoarthritis and needed a hip replacement. I was still in my 30's. I was terrified. I had one hip replacement, and then just 18 months later, I had the other replaced. That was over 12 years ago. Â
Rather than accept any limitations, I sought to change the future. I started physical therapy and eventually gained back the strength and mobility to complete grueling triathlons consisting of a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride and 26.2-mile marathon as well as 36-hour endurance events and many others.
